How to Use the Weekly Hard Sets Calculator
The Weekly Hard Sets Calculator is designed for a simple weekly audit. Start by entering only the sets you would reasonably call productive work for the target muscle. Warm-up sets, technique rehearsals and very easy sets generally belong outside the total. Then add any indirect work you intentionally want to track and choose a credit method that you can keep consistent from week to week.
- Enter direct sets by day. If you perform three challenging chest-focused sets on Monday and three on Thursday, enter 3 in those two cells.
- Add indirect work only when useful. Presses may contribute to triceps and anterior-deltoid work; rows and pulldowns may contribute to biceps. The magnitude is exercise- and person-dependent.
- Choose an indirect-set credit. Zero tracks direct sets only. A 0.5 credit is a fractional bookkeeping option. Full credit is the most generous assumption.
- Calculate and review the pattern. Look for unexpectedly high or low muscle-group totals, then compare them with your actual recovery and progression.
- Keep the same counting rules. Consistency makes trend comparisons more useful than changing definitions every week.
Practical rule: the Weekly Hard Sets Calculator is most useful when it answers, “What did I actually expose this muscle to this week?” It is less useful when the goal becomes forcing every exercise into a precise physiological equivalence.
