This plan creates a 400-calorie daily deficit, or about 18% below estimated maintenance. Despite the phrase “1800-calorie aggressive diet,” this is closer to a moderate cut for this specific maintenance level. If progress is steady and training feels normal, there may be no reason to move down to 1600.
Example 2: 2800 Maintenance, 2000 Calories
The daily deficit is 800 calories, roughly 29% below maintenance. That is clearly aggressive even though the target is the highest number in this page’s range. This example shows why the absolute intake alone is misleading.
Example 3: 3000 Maintenance, 1800 Calories
The daily deficit is 1200 calories, or 40%. That is a very large reduction. It may produce rapid early scale changes, but it also raises the likelihood that hunger, training performance, spontaneous activity and dietary adherence become harder to manage. Example 4: 3500 Maintenance, 2000 Calories
This creates a 1500-calorie daily gap, about 43%. Calling 2000 calories “high” would be incorrect in this context. For a very active person with high maintenance needs, 2000 can still be extremely aggressive.
